Why “Tech” is in our name
Garage doors look simple from the curb — panels, a motor, a remote. Behind that is a tuned system: spring weight, cable tension, track alignment, opener force settings, and safety sensors that must agree. Ottawa Garage Tech exists for homeowners who want that full system diagnosed properly, not just a quick part swap.
“Tech” reflects how we work: measure door weight before ordering springs, test balance after every spring or cable job, read opener error codes instead of guessing, and explain what failed in plain language. We would rather spend five extra minutes on diagnosis than sell you a part you do not need.
We are not a national franchise and not a general contractor. Springs, openers, tracks, seals, and new door installs are what we do — across Ottawa, Kanata, Barrhaven, Orleans, Nepean, and the wider National Capital Region.

How we started
Ottawa Garage Tech grew out of everyday calls in this city: a spring that snaps on the coldest morning of the year, a door that will not close before a trip, an opener that hums but does not move. Too many homeowners told us they got vague pricing, pressure to replace when repair was enough, or a technician who only looked at one part.
We built the company around the opposite experience — mobile vans stocked for common residential hardware, scope and price agreed before major work, and evening hours (9 a.m.–9 p.m. daily) because breakdowns rarely happen on schedule. Every job photo on this site is from work we have done locally, not stock photography from another brand.
Ottawa winters are part of our planning, not an afterthought. We factor freeze-thaw, salt, and attached garages into recommendations — from weather sealing and tune-ups to well-insulated door upgrades before the first deep freeze.

How we work on every visit
You tell us what happened — a loud bang, a door that reverses, a gap under the seal. We inspect the full system, explain findings in plain language, and agree on scope and price before major repair or installation work begins.
